The New Orleans Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) guide includes legal requirements and recommended practices for City of New Orleans boards, commissions, and public benefit corporations. Board members have an important responsibility to oversee the public funds entrusted to them for the efficient and effective operation of the board, public benefit corporation, or commission they have the privilege of serving. The OIG provided this information to help board members execute their duties, fulfill their organization’s mission, and ensure that public organizations serve the public interest.
