New Orleans OIG says more than $770K made in overpayments to city’s traffic camera program

A new report from the New Orleans office of inspector general is raising renewed concerns about the city’s traffic camera program, finding that while some improvements were made after earlier warnings, key fixes were not sustained, allowing more than $770,000 in new overpayments to accumulate.

The report is a follow-up to a 2020 inspector general audit that found drivers were being overcharged through the city’s automated traffic enforcement system.
