OIG report: No evidence of cheating, bias in NOPD promotions

A monthslong investigation by the New Orleans Office of Inspector General has found no evidence that any NOPD officers cheated or received preferential treatment during the department’s 2024 promotional exams for captains and majors.

The OIG’s findings clear all 14 officers who were named in a series of anonymous complaints that halted promotions in the fall and contributed to leadership gaps during some of the city’s most high-pressure events.
