NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) — An Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office employee said in an email Wednesday that this month’s cyberattack caused the loss of a substantial amount of data.
Contracts, intake documents, and expense information comprise the 842 gigabytes of data that Axios reports the Russian ransomware group Qilin claims it stole from the Sheriff’s Office.
The breach unfolds less than a year after Orleans Parish Inspector General Ed Michel issued a report suggesting the Sheriff’s Office update its aging internal systems.
