The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office and other city law enforcement agencies must track their spending through City Hall’s financial accounting system under rules the New Orleans City Council approved Thursday.
The Sheriff’s Office has until June 1, 2027 to begin entering its expenses and other financial information into the city’s financial tracking system in a bid for increased transparency and council oversight of public funds, according to the ordinance.
