New Orleans improves fuel purchase controls, inspector general finds

Three years ago, the inspector general found New Orleans city government to have lax controls over the fuel it purchased for its fleet of vehicles and equipment. There was no way of knowing if the city was actually getting the fuel it paid for, and invoices were improperly paid as a result.
