Failed $6 million contract; OIG finds former OPCD director altered documents

Money down the drain — a $6 million contract signed by the former director of the Orleans Parish Communication District is at the center of a new scathing report.

The Office of the Inspector General found documents were altered and laws were not followed.

WDSU Investigates sits down with the new head of the department to talk through his steps moving forward.

“Errors were made, things were done that shouldn’t have been, but not by any current employees.”

Karl Fasold has been the Orleans Parish communications director since July, when former director Tyrell Morris stepped down after a WDSU investigation.
