The New Orleans Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a public letter to LA State Senator J.P. Morrell after the IG’s presentation to the Orleans Parish Justice and Rehabilitation Reform Commission. The letter reiterates the cost savings that could be realized by consolidating Municipal and Traffic Court staff and the overall effectiveness that could result from the consolidation of case management systems, information technology, accounting, and other professional services.

The Inspector General issued a public letter to St. Tammany Parish President Patricia Brister clarifying comments made at a public meeting about the question of whether to create an inspector general’s office in St. Tammany Parish. Inspector General Quatrevaux said that the risks of fraud and corruption involving public entities are great, and that government is often the target of scams.

The letter from New Orleans Office of Inspector General (OIG) to the State Board of Certified Public Accountants of Louisiana asserts that the Campaign Treasurer for Sheriff Marlin Gusman, Albert J. “Joey” Richard, III, has a conflict in appearance and fact due to his direct involvement in both Sheriff Gusman’s election campaigns and in auditing the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office on approval of the Legislative Auditor, as provided in La. R.S. 24:513(A)(5).

The New Orleans Office of Inspector General (OIG) entered into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the State Department of Education Recovery School District to provide oversight of the RSD’s New Orleans school construction projects. This letter contains a correction to the original letter dated June 27, 2013, the Inspector General outlines points of disagreement regarding compensation to the Program Manager/Construction Manager, Jacobs/CSRS.
